The "Rogazioni"
The term derives from the Latin word "Rogazio" which means the request, a prayer for something, and has very ancient origins.
We have come through religious tradition and popular, but go back to the rites of Roman pagans.
We have definite information that, in republican Rome already existed ceremonies of the popular Robigalie and other such Ambarualia. The Robigalie took place April 25, the Ambarualia were held on different days, in spring and the beginning of the year.
Were held with a procession of people, that piety led to the fields to invoke (rogare) good harvests, the god of earth, water and sky, offering gifts to the sacred images as posed in terms trivi and cross.
Christian tradition has absorbed the rituals and traditions of the former Roman culture, and handing greater use of the rogazioni in rural areas to sec. XX.
Some parish priests of the Garfagnana, have practiced the Rogazione until the sixties.
Fitted with processional cross and cooked along with the parishioners paths, to promote agriculture, by stopping at the many majesty in the campaign.
